I just love harsh light.. the harsher the better.. harsh to the point where skin looks like it's being burnt.
These are two shots from my shoot with Akin from Ford La, the funny thing is strobes were used.. but they lagged way off.. or maybe I was too trigger happy.. It's amazing what some sun light, a good looking guy and a white wall can do

I love old school films.. and the main big reason behind this is.. the lighting....
From independents, to film noir, to the mgm dance classics.. I drool just looking at how lighting is handled in such genres.. and the faces of the time complimented it so well.. my dream one day is to be able to light people like this on set...
There are some modern masters who to this day still do great work with on set and location lighting
I get goose bumps just from watching old mgm films like this
